Learning about AI

It's 2024, the future is already here and right at our fingertips!

Let's be more specific and hyperfocus on-- AI.

What's AI?

(too long, didn't read?) AI, or artificial intelligence, refers to computer systems that can simulate human intelligence by performing tasks that typically require human skills like reasoning, learning, and problem-solving. There are two main categories of AI:

Narrow AI (Weak AI): This is the kind of AI most commonly used today. It's very good at specific tasks, like playing chess, recognizing faces, or recommending products.

Artificial General Intelligence (Strong AI): This is purely theoretical and doesn't currently exist. It refers to machines with human-level intelligence that can apply their intelligence to any situation.

AI is a broad field with many different applications. Here are some examples of how AI is being used today:

  • Self-driving cars use AI to navigate roads and avoid obstacles.
  • Chatbots use AI to simulate conversation and provide customer service.
  • Machine translation uses AI to translate text from one language to another.
  • Fraud detection uses AI to identify suspicious financial activity.

TLDR; AI is like having super-powered tools that mimic human thinking. Imagine computers that can learn, solve problems, and even recognize faces! Most AI excels at specific tasks, like driving cars or translating languages. Super-smart, all-knowing AI from movies is still science fiction, but this "narrow AI" is already changing the world from self-driving cars to chatbots that answer your questions.
